The Grand Prix of Denmark was held over two heats and a final, it was a qualifying round for the European Cup and a very good entry of 36 cars arrived although a clashing BR round at Knockhill restricted the number of UK based teams taking part.
Heat One saw Conny Andersson (March 753) winning after fastest man in practice Terry Perkins (Ralt RT1) was involved in a first corner incident that meant he could only finish fourth at the flag. Larry Perkins dominated Heat Two in his Ralt after changing from the M&H tyres he had used in qualifying to Goodyears for the race.
Larry Perkins took pole for the final as his Heat time was faster than Andersson’s but it was the Swede who took the lead as the flag fell. Andersson’s time at the front was brief as he spun at the hairpin on the second lap handing the lead to Larry P. from Terry P. in second. Larry P. lead until lap 14 when Terry P. found a way through, brothers and team mates they may be but the fight for the lead was certainly genuine. Larry P. was back in front on lap 22 albeit briefly as three laps later he was in the pits with a puncture, he rejoined but could only recover to ninth by the finish. This left Terry P. with a comfortable 5 seconds lead which he held to the finish, Anders Olofsson took second with Ulf Svensson third 0.4 seconds behind.
