An excellent entry of 40 cars arrived at Casale in Northern Italy to take part in the two heats and a final event. Conny Andersson was once again in excellent form and he took the fastest qualifying time with his March 753 from the older March of Rupert Keegan.

Unlike practice the first heat was held in wet conditions with victory going to Luciano Pavesi ahead of Piercarlo Ghinzani in the CRS, Keegan took fourth after a spin. Andersson won the second heat after getting ahead of Gaudenzio Mantova.

Andersson took the lead from the start in the final pursued by Pavesi, Mantova and the rest of the field. Mantova moved up to second and began to challenge Andersson closing to within two seconds until a spin dropped him away. Mantova quickly recovered and began once again to close on Andersson but at the finish he was still a second behind the Swede who recorded his sixth successive victory. Eddie Cheever spun out and crashed at the corner before the pits whilst Keegan had several more spins and finished down the field.

Once again details are limited for round three of the Italian F3 Championship, Brian Henton brought his car over from England and in very wet conditions he dominated the race until waterlogged electrics dropped him down the field. Larry Perkins also arrived with a new March but was involved in an accident in the early stages and didn’t finish.

This was the first round of the Italian F3 Championship and was held over two heats and a final and the field was largely national runners with the exception of Sweden’s Conny Andersson and the Uruguayan Pedro Passadore. It is probable that many of the runners were still using 1600 cc engines.

Pedro Passadore won the first heat ahead of Alessandro Pessenti-Rossi, Passadore’s GRD was using the new Toyota Novamotor twin cam engine. Heat 2 went to Sandro Cinotti’s March, another user of the Toyota Novamotor, Luciano Pavesi took second in his Brabham. It was a Toyota 1-2 in the final with Passadore leading Cinotti home, Giorgio Francia’s March finished third.
Conny Andersson had an unhappy weekend retiring from both his heat and the final with gearbox problems.

This was the opening round of the Italian F3 Championship held at the new Casale track South of Turin. Practice was very much a Brabham benefit with the English chassis taking the fastest four positions after qualifying.

Pole position man Alberto Colombo lead for most of the race in his BT41 before indulging in a quick spin near the end that let the similar cars of Claudio Francisci and Luigi Cinotti through to take first and second. Colombo recovered to take third and set the fastest lap from yet another BT41, this one driven by Lella Lombardi. F the other front runners Roberto Marrazi crashed his Ensign whilst the engine of the similar car of Roberto Marrazi blew up.
